Indian Weddingz | Led 0-to-1 product strategy for a service marketplace

Indian Weddingz is a wedding planning platform that helps couples discover, compare, and book wedding vendors with ease. The platform aims to simplify the planning experience by providing curated vendor listings, personalized dashboards, and interactive planning tools all within an intuitive, visually rich interface that reflects the joy and elegance of Indian weddings.

The project focused on improving content discoverability, simplifying vendor browsing, and creating a visually consistent experience suitable for a high-intent, inspiration-driven audience.

My Role

I was responsible for leading the research, strategy, and interface design to deliver an engaging and user-friendly experience.

  • Product discovery and feature definition

  • Information architecture and user flows

  • UI design for key discovery and listing screens

  • Visual design system and reusable components

  • Prototyping and design handoff

The Challenge

The wedding planning market is highly competitive and visually saturated. The client wanted to build a distinct brand presence that felt modern, trustworthy, and elegant, while offering a more intuitive planning experience than existing players.

  • Establishing a strong, differentiated brand image in a crowded space.

  • Designing a simpler, more guided dashboard for couples to plan weddings effortlessly.

  • Building a robust vendor discovery experience with well-structured filters, smart categorization, and visually appealing vendor cards.

  • Maintaining a consistent tone of luxury and celebration without compromising usability.

Design Approach

To address these pain points, I structured the project around three pillars - Clarity, Consistency, and Celebration.

  • Designed the marketplace structure and navigation from the ground up

  • Prioritized discoverability through categories, filters, and listing hierarchy

  • Balanced visual inspiration with functional information for decision-making

  • Applied a mobile-first approach, considering how users browse wedding services

Key Design Decisions

  • Created standardized vendor listing cards to support easy comparison

  • Designed detailed vendor profiles with clear service breakdowns

  • Used visual hierarchy to surface pricing, ratings, and key highlights

  • Built reusable components to support future scalability

UI & Visual Language

  • The visual design balanced tradition with modern elegance.

  • Soft hues inspired by Indian festivities paired with minimal white space.

  • Decorative accents used sparingly to keep focus on usability.

Outcome

  • Delivered a complete marketplace experience from scratch

  • Enabled clearer vendor discovery and browsing flows

  • Established a scalable UI foundation for future feature expansion

This project reinforced the importance of balancing aesthetics with usability in lifestyle-based platforms. A beautiful interface only succeeds when it genuinely simplifies the user’s journey — especially in emotional and high-stakes experiences like wedding planning.
